If you don’t know what Camp Hyrule was, it used to be this virtual summer camp that Nintendo hosted for one week every August from 1995-2006. It was mostly a bunch of chatrooms but there was like daily contests and little Flash mini-games and everyone was set up in different cabins…

Kruvya, I wouldn’t feel dumb about it. Truthfully, after some reflection, I’m feeling more than a little ashamed of my response to Anonymous #1. Not that I’m trying to stem the tide of hate mail (thriving on negative attention as I am), but I recognize that I wasn’t responding in a way that I would respect coming from someone else and feel it should be acknowledged.

As you well know: I hate humanity as a whole. I find them to be ignorant, self-centered, petty, illogical, easily manipulated, and irresponsible, and believe that these attributes are leading us all to self-destruction in innumerable ways. But when I meet a person, I generally like them. So I think it’s fair to say that I was pulled into letting the nature of anonymous asks lead me to dehumanize the writer and scapegoat that person. And that’s kind of disgusting.

Anonymous #1 isn’t the representative of all that is wrong with humanity, Tumblr, Homestuck fans, Nintendo fans, or anything of the sort. Anonymous #1 is just some person. The fact is: I too find myself reacting to things without thinking through whether I really understand them. I too sometimes don’t get what should be obvious cues that the person is joking or attempting to be ridiculous. I’m sure we all have from time to time. That doesn’t make us worthy of scorn or ridicule. That makes us flawed and imperfect. We should strive for better, but inevitably we’re all going to fall short. So I don’t blame your or Anonymous #1 for not getting my humor, and I don’t think you should be hard on yourself over it.

NaG’s still a huge bitch though. :]

Oh NaG, I’ve missed our banter too, but there’s no need to be jealous of all the new attention. I’m not about to don a yellow hat and start treating my friends like shit just because I get a little popularity.
